Creative Every Day: January 12th – 18th, 2009

January 12th, 2009

Ced2009Welcome, Creative Every Day 2009 participants!

Feel free to leave a comment on this post or use the "Mr. Linky" widget below to link to a post (or posts) about your creative activities during the days of 1/12/08 - 1/18/09. The use of this widget is not required. It's an optional method of sharing your creativity that makes it easier for others to check out what you're up to. You can use it to link to a blog post or posts during the week listed. Or if you have a bunch of posts and don't want to link to all of them, you can link to your main blog page once. Do it in a way that makes sense and is fun for you!

To find out more about Creative Every Day 2009, check out the details here and then if you want to sign up, leave a comment on this post or email me to let me know (a link to my email is in the upper left sidebar.) When you contact me, please let me know how you'd like to be listed in the list of participants, which resides in the right sidebar (I can list you as your name or as a link to a blog if you have one. A blog is not required!) If you start posting links on the Mr. Linky widget without letting me know that you're participating, I may not see that you're new. Also, if you notice that your blog is not in the sidebar and you thought you had signed up, let me know, so I can get it up there asap.

There are some folks participating who do not have a blog and for some reason their names are linking to the CED info page. I'm not sure why that's happening, but I wanted you to know that when you click on a name that takes you to the CED page, it means that they don't have a blog at this time.

The totally optional theme for January is Play! I'll be posting about this theme throughout the month. You can find out more about how you can use the theme here.

Happy Creating!!

There’s lots of new stuff to see on my blog this week. I’m participating in Misty Mawn’s art journal every day in January challenge & I’ve been trying some new things.

I forgot to come over and link to what I had created on Friday! I even had a little give-away for anyone that could guess what I was making. So sorry I forgot. I did include the link to the last post with photos. I’m just having so much fun creating each and every day that it totally slipped my mind! xoxo Have a wonderfully creative week ahead :)

Please count me in for 2009! I look forward to creating a more creative life and thanks for the motivation provided here!

I am really enjoying this site and looking forward to seeing what everyone else is creating. Good luck with the coming year. Janet

Good Morning everyone….unfortunately my art journaling has already taken the back burner as am busy with making softies…I have made a few backgrounds though so when the notion strikes I can get busy!
I have posted my first softie created to submit to Stuffed…I posted some pics this weekend on my blog. I started another small one and drug it around with me all day Saturday…my friend came and got me and had to make a few stops before walking on the beach so I sat in the truck and sewed!
Yesterday I received an email from someone who bought a gourd bird from me over the summer…she want to buy one for a gift!! I have been dragging my feet with an Etsy site. So I spent yesterday morning figuring things out. I should be ready to post my first items this week! I started 3 birds yesterday so the customer can choose…I hope she can wait ’til there done….wish me luck!
Happy Creating!

Good morning, Leah

I think that maybe I should be calling my participation CNED (creative nearly every day) &-)

Although, I musn’t forget that making homemade soup and playing with babies can also be considered creative activities. It is just that I didn’t post at all this weekend and I guess instead of feeling guilty about it, I need to give myself permission to take time off occasionally. Without penalty.

Still loving this whole creative community. Thanks.

i am thankful for the small acts of creativity that, taken together, will bloom into something bigger down the line. this focus on remembering that there is creativity in the way i do my day job, or cook or interact with others is helpful. when i don’t have time to make art, it reminds me that i am an artist. in pursuit of ced i am playing more, because i give myself more freedom to experiment- there’s a different end in sight that what i normally start a piece with.

much fun to glance through the flickr site!

I truly enjoy “playing” on this site. Thanks so much for letting me participate.

Hi Leah!
I am so excited to share my first painting of 2009. I just love this pug’s expression. It is like I looked up when I was done painting and said “Hello little pug! Where did you come from?”
That is the most exciting feeling in the world for me.
Happy Monday!
:) Melissa

Hi Everyone :)

Happy Monday! We have snow in Colorado today. A nice way to start the week. It has been a windy and warm winter so far. I was able to spend yesterday making lots of teddy bears. I have been using recycled sweaters as my materials and it is so fun! here is a link to see what i have made. Have a great day

Thank you for this open invitation. My creativity is expressed most often in writing & photography (on my blog: http://www.karengberger.blogspot.com), and in my renewed efforts in cooking & housekeeping. I hope to allow that to expand with inspiration from this group, and the interaction it offers with other creative people. Blessings to you and the CED2009ers!

I love the idea and the low pressure. :)

I’ve been playing with dots. I’m enjoying writing my DISCOVERy: Night Sky weekly posts this year (I call that creative!). I lots of more ideas – I just gotta do something with them – stuck at the moment!

Thanks so much for hosting this challenge…so far I’ve posted every day and have done everything this week from making a reliquary to putting together an assemblage of type…can’t wait to see what next week brings!

Hi, Leah! I’m committing (or re-committing) to writing/painting/taking photos every day this year! Thanks so much for your encouragement and inspiration!

I think I was supposed to tell you how to show my link on your sidebar. You can call it Gberger (the name of my blog) or karengberger, if you like, whatever works. Thank you!

Synchronicity. Serendipity. Wonderful!

My wish for this week is to carry forward the momentum and energy that I created last.

Leah, Let me tell you once more, how much CED has opened me to revealing and expressing my authentic self. Absolutely liberating. I hope that you relealize the impact that you continue to have in my life. and I’m certain the lives of all who participate. THANKU, THANKU, THANKU

Wow, it’s been an amazing week. Despite many wrenches in my stew, I’ve managed to find/make time for all kinds of creative things. I did fall off the sketch wagon, but I’ll get back up on it. I realized I only had 6B pencils and one 3B. Don’t know how I managed that, but I picked up a 2B and a 4B today so I’ll have some fun with them over the next week. Thanks Leah and everyone else here for so much inspiration, I think I’m starting to pull out of my January funk.

I’m new to this website and very muh like the idea of being creative in some way, every day. Personally I attempt to write a poem a day and in this instance, it is a poem I wish to share.

What type of dog will Obama get? A humorous poem.

You know, playing is one of the most intense activities I’ve ever undertaken — at least in terms of being a mother. My child is so avidly curious and voracious about knowledge that I feel myself being stretched even when having fun.

Beads! I have made beads! on my own equipment (thank you Santa) withou blowing up my house!!!!

I’ve been making more journal pages and having fun with crazy colors.

My creativity shut down right after making the decision to participate here. I am finally back. I haven’t created anything visual, but I have written a piece on how hope flared up in my heart again thanks to a blogger whose visual creations are exquisite and whose heart is wide open.

loving the challenge, combined with Misty’s self portrait…BOY, THE PRESSURE IS AMAZINGLY INSPIRING! Thanks for hosting!

A quick little water color sketch in one of the sketchbook exchange books.

brand new poem, based on a dream (with collage)

How does the quote this time (about the fountain of youth) happen to be on this when I add my link today?!?! My post has a concept like that in it!! Synchronicity really making me feel watched and loved today.

I pulled a fast one and used my first page for Create ‘09 for my CED13. Sneaky…sneaky…

Leah, there’s a little love note for you at the bottom of my post. Hope is makes you giggle.

So much in common – Giggle and Play. Sprinkle some giggle into your day. :)

(that old Almond Joy/Mounds commercial is playing in my head – “sometimes I feel like a nut…”)

I have had the flu the past 4 days but it hasn’t stopped my art journaling.

A new very graphic page posted on my blog this week.

I am a bit behind on my posting, but here is a watercolor sketch of a time I was playing over the holidays…overlooking hte Lowest Golf Course on Earth! Below that post are a bunch of images I made during Saturday’s Worldwide SketchCrawl 21. I’m planning to paint a bunch of them. I have been amazed at how much I miss sketching/painting if I don’t do it every day. Fantastic! I appreciate your having this site, Leah.

My entry for this week involves a vote on which Crown of Thorns mini quilt you like best. Hope you all will stop in and give your thoughts on it.
It’s been fun meeting many more people through this challenge and seeing such a variety of wonderfully creative things.

A water color today (done last night) after Steve Emery (but no where near as nice as his!) http://nopolar.blogspot.com/2009/01/bluebird-of-happiness.html

I’m like a couple of folks on here where life has already gotten in the way of some of my creative projects. I am, however, slowly working on a new piece that I’ve posted on my blog. Participating in CED has kept my art and photography endeavors at the top of my mind, so from that standpoint, I’m really far ahead of where I was a month ago.

Thanks so much for this challenge and reminder how important it is to PLAY! I have been just playing and loving it! I left a link with Mr Linky!

I just joined the 12 Secrets book club late last week and had a ton of fun reading all the posts. Just got my book today. YEEE! So excited to join in on the fun and add my own 2 cents. I worked on a necklace entry for a local gallery showing “Winter Garden”. I was in it last year, but this year my piece didn’t make the cut. That is okay, because I will be donating it to a local charity called ArtsBash to raise money for art scholarships at the local university. I made a necklace for a client as a gift late last night, I was interviewed by a weekly paper about my cover spot in Bead Trends January issue, and the local daily is interviewing me tomorrow! My art pal and I are doing the Unfolding Your Life Vision kit from Jenn Lee. When I have pictures of that I will certainly share on my blog. And I have a daily calendar that I am marking my Creative Every Day activities on so that at the end of the year I can see all the great progress and fun that I have had! Enjoy the day! Erin, Tesori Trovati Jewelry

Oops! I forgot one more thing…I entered a monthly blog challenge at Vintaj.com for their “Ice Crystals” challenge. It is fun to see all the different interpretations and to stretch myself.

Today I *played* with actions in photoshop.

BTW – I love Erin Prais-Hintz idea of documenting daily creativity in a calendar to enjoy a visual of accomplishment at the end of the year. Me – I’m using the log that Leah gifted us. I suggest everyone do this in some form or another. It kinda ensures you a pat on the back from yourself at years end.

I am so enjoying this month theme, my children were playing with a tiny amount of snow we got some time ago, I have been playing with a very fine cotton thread to come up with my own heart pattern… PLAY is good http://www.bluefishhandmade.com/2009/01/i-havent-finished-yet.html

I’m not seeing the widget-thingy just now, so I’ll leave the link here:

http://amusedgrace.blogspot.com/2009/01/knitty-satan-toy-2.html

I have been faithfully keeping a creativity log. It is astonishing to me how creative I already am, every single day. I do so much more than I think I do, even when I’m not “trying.” Keeping the log is showing me how harshly I judge what I do. I think it’s because I’m a “professional” artist and I’m assuming for it to count it has to be some big great finished Work Of Art. (Can I blame Art School?)

Finally back after the overwhelming holidays… So happy to see that there are so many still at work… it gives me hope…now I have to run and catch up with all of your new work!

Hi All, I’m sharing another journal page. I have been playing with sketches and watercolor painting and working on a writing assignment. I’ve also been trying to come up with embellishments for an art doll I made a while back. Playful, fun stuff!

I’m sooooo enjoying seeing what you all are doing. It gets my creative mojo going. :) Thanks Leah for this challenge.

Greetings and salutations. I had my 1st session of my water media class and worked on a painting which is as yet unfinished.

My entry. The very first one, by the way. :)

Backgammon.

Congrats on your first entry Sweet-Lemmon!

I have been taking photos and working on journal pages… going to play some this weekend….
